my god today was hot as hellllll i am not excited for this spring weather at all! 

anyways today was the first day of spring quarter and i had my chem lab/lecture classes today. the weird thing is that we had assigned seats in lab and i'm sitting in the front row... at least i know one of the girls at my table bcuz we had chem together w deming. my chem professor seems very nice but i feel like she's going to start irritating me throughout the quarter... no one will ever compare to prof deming sobs

also when i got to the lecture room i thought i lost my apple pencil and even asked the prof about going back to the lab room to look for it but it was in my backpack the entire time haha...

and i went to the bookstore to buy index cards for chem and another journal for bio and i was so shocked bcuz the total price was $1.69!! i think it's because both items were already marked down and they were also in the 75% off section like what a steal. my jaw dropped a little when the cashier announced the price lol.

also i watched the new succession episode today and crieddd because spoiler alert (?) logan DIES. seeing all the characters unravel and be vulnerable with each other upon hearing the news actually broke me i can't wait to see what happens next in the show... 

even though i'm happy about starting this quarter i'm already pissed off by all the homework i have to do agh. i need to start this quarter strong so i'll end this entry here to start doing hw!

hello diary... long time no write ;;

i don't want to spend all day recapping everything going on in my life rn but basically the first day of the spring quarter is tomorrow and i'm nervous, it's ramadan, i'm on my period, i'm putting off taking my driver's permit test, and i'm sleepyy.

also i changed the background of this blog to something cuter bcuz i need smth to incentivize me to write on this diary more. i spent like an hour looking for blogger alternatives too but i keep coming back here lol. i just wish the formatting for editing posts on mobile was better ack.

and rn i'm in an anime phase againn. the g witch s2 premiere just aired and i watched it the first thing this morning, it wasn't super eventful but it still felt really relieving to watch. i also started tengoku daimakyou which is pretty good so far (the animation is amazing) and magical destroyers which seems a bit weak plot wise but visuals and concept are quirky enough to keep me engaged so far. also i tried watching turn a gundam last night because i saw it getting recommended a lot but it's from like 1999 or something and the pacing is super slow... it's also like 50 episodes iirc and i don't have the commitment for that so i dropped it loll maybe i'll try picking it up again another time.

hello... typing out this life update while listening to a dr. k lecture in the background

- def failed my calc midterm last week i am so screwed for that class

- coming off of an anime binge phase (lycoris recoil, bocchi the rock, gundam witch from mercury) and idk how to fill the void that is left from g witch season 1 ending

- my j-core/hardstyle/edm phase is still going strong

- getting rlly obsessed with the new stardust x avex coed group one love one heart... their debut album is my most listened to release of this year so far

- actually idk what else is going on with me rn i just hate all my classes rn

had a lot of fun at marinah's bday party this weekend :)

i kind of loved this chem lab because the purple stuff looked so yummy...

successfully gave some guy directions because he asked me how to get to the two largest most easily identifiable buildings on campus (the library and the cafeteria). was a very pleasant interaction though. other than that i am incredibly stressed out atm LOL.

biology hell

i was so happy when i saw that email from carvalho omg i miss her class so much... i miss high school so much actually like especially having more than just one friend on campus (okay i only had like two in hs which is not much more but).

was walking to the bookstore with angela and some white guy asked us if we thought height is important in relationships because apparently his friend was asking and we both said no which he agreed with. very awkward interaction considering i have no romantic experience.

 

my bio lab is actually so soul sucking i really like my lab group but the professor actually speaks in riddles.

 

de anza's campus is pretty in the rain. also i love my chem teacher so far.

 

first day of the winter quarter, i not so coincidentally sat behind an asian girl with a bob haircut and glasses in my calc class today.

i met with marinah for lunch for a bit on wednesday! we went to world wrapps which we had both never been to before. it's located in the same plaza as the amc theater and they had like soo many options for food but i eventually chose to get a beyond meat bulgogi bowl... it really tasted like real beef but it did nott taste like bulgogi at all because the sauce they put on top was like the white garlic-y sauce that's used in mediterranean food?? and it was served on top of sushi rice and with like japanese egg rolls which was kind of a weird combo. also marinah got starbucks for the both of us and she ordered a peppermint mocha frap which i didn't know existed and i rlly want to get one next time... while we were there we just kinda caught up on life and talked about what we were into atm. marinah said she's in her grimes era which was funny to me. she also shared some tiktoks with me and we talked about duolingo lol. before dropping me at my place we went to pick up zoya from granada and it was sort of nostalgic seeing all the kids in their school uniform. i rllyy hope we can meet again after i come back from socal because it'll so hard to schedule a meetup after school starts again.

KO3 & Relect - Ko3 & Relect / 2019 / Dance

i met with lana and shahum on sunday, it was the first time i've seen lana since high school graduation and i hadn't seen shahum in a bit either because of finals week. up until the night before we planned to go out we couldn't decide on where to eat so we just met up at schs and then lana drove us to main street cupertino lol. shahum didn't rlly want to eat a filling lunch so i just got tteokbokki from myungrang hot dog and shared it w them. it was soo spicy though and we made the mistake of eating before getting drinks so we had to go back to 85 to get drinks and lana and shahum also got some desserts. we just caught up with each other and it was rlly fun! i hope we can do another meetup over spring break or something ahh

helloooo... it is officially the first weekend of winter break! i haven't made a blog entry in a while but i did take some pictures i wanted to upload onto here so i'm going to go back and do that rn (basically i wrote all posts after the one on nov 27 until this post tonight).
as for general life updates, finals went okay i think? the exams themselves were at least better than i expected them to be but idk what my grades are for any of my classes yet except for bio, which i got a b+ in. not bad if you ask me! 

also i'm going to be meeting with lana and shahum tomorroww it's kind of been a pain in the ass to plan meeting with them but i'm glad it's happening at all lol. we still haven't decided where we'll be eating at so i guess that's a problem for me tomorrow. also i'm meeting marinah on wednesday and then going to la over the christmas weekend and hopefully meeting her again after that.

in more unfortunate news i am going through a bad music phase right now. i couldn't keep listening to japanese indie rock while studying during finals week because it was putting me to sleep and i was simultaneously getting into perfume and yasutaka nakata's music which then led me to the rabbit hole of japanese edm..... i've basically been listening to artists under the hardcore tano*c label especially massive new krew. i guess i like hardstyle now?? i don't know what's going on. 

oh also here's a rundown of my 2022 apple replay, although i think my results have changed a bit since the full replay has been out and probably will change a bit more after i publish this.

this was taken on the wednesday of finals week, i technically didn't have to come to class that day because i had no finals, but i had to return my calc textbook... all the fall colors on campus have disappeared already :( and this picture was basically the last one i took of the 2022 fall quarter! time fliess

sorry i literally don't remember what i was going to write for this entry when i originally took these pictures but i think i was studying for my huge bio lab test on thursday? very studious. 

u know what i want to do a more causal entry about what i'm into right now... firstly, ryutist's latest album (en) has sort of changed my life. it features production from a lott of jp artists i like including ohzora kimishima who i am also pretty obsessed with. his music is just soo pretty and soft. i also just love the sort of hyperpop elements this album has without going too overboard, including one part of "tattaima:sakkimade" that sounds just like early SOPHIE (ok the whole producer uyama amane's style just sort of sounds like if u put SOPHIE's sample pack in a blender with catchy jpop melodies but the resemblance here was especially striking). and actually that same song, which is one of my favorites, manages to intertwine that older PC music sound with elements of pop punk which is trendy right now and basically inseparable from the current sound of hyperpop and to me it seemed like a full circle moment for the genre and i just love it so much. the album is pretty experimental as a whole and crosses over many genres but it doesn't go all over the place which i attribute to the producers of the album being given full creative liberty to just do their own contained thing and do it well. like many other k/jpop idol group albums would not have the restraint to create a project with the same level of consistency that this album has imo. i also feel like the producers for this album weren't too pressured to make music that sounds like idol music which gives it such a distinct and innovative sound. i just can't stop going back and listening to (en) and marveling over how perfect it is. like why can't more idol groups make music like this?? idol groups that have even higher budgets than ryutist i'm looking at you like i won't settle for mid music any longer!
